May 16th will be our 6th Annual FYF Construction Camp! 

Are you looking to hire, and do you want to help the next generation be inspired to enter the construction workforce? This day does exactly that! SHBA member volunteers help teams of students to build 5 garden sheds in one day. Students experience a hands-on day in construction, meet our awesome members, and make connections to start pursuing a career in our industry. 

We are looking for volunteers for the following positions:

Framer's Description – we need 16

·         Keep Students engaged.

o   If you see a student who is stand-offish, switch them out with students who are doing everything.

o   If you have a student who will not engage, inform the foreman.

·         Teach students a 101 course, not a 401 course.

o   Teach them the basics and how to be safe with power tools.

·         Keep ‘life’ conversations to break times if warranted.

o   Some people feel led to get into life choice conversations (religion, politics, etc.)

·         Have positive attitudes.

·         Meet morning of 1 hour before the morning.

o   Team assignments

o   Safety brief

o   Stage site

Carpenters – we need 14

·         Keep students engaged.

·         Be safety’s eyes and ears.

·         Assist framer.

·         Have a positive attitude.

·         Meet morning of 1 hour before the morning.
